My Favorite Things

Beauty and music, sunshine and light,
the wings of a dove softly rustling in flight.
The smell of the morning after summers rain,
crackling campfires and bubbling champagne.
Voices of children singing songs of praise,
the evening mist and long autumn days.
The changing of seasons, a moment of prayer,
goosebumps and laughter, my favorite chair.
Being lost in a moment, the voice of a friend,
being held in a hug I hope never ends.
The way my cheeks feel coming in from the cold,
the softness of hands as they begin to grow old.
Sincerity and honesty, faith, hope, and love,
knowing that God is somewhere above.
The presence of angels, a wonderful dream,
having a bowl of my favorite ice cream.
Snuggles and cuddles and soft babies feet,
that fleeting moment my house is tidy and neat.
Sweet memories to cherish, tears of sadness and joy,
pictures in albums, my childhood toy.
Sharing a secret, shouting out loud,
laying back in the sun, guessing shapes in the clouds.
Rain on the rooftop, silence so still,
meadows and forests, lacy frost on the sill.
The power of prayer, uninterrupted sleep,
making a promise I know I will keep.
Sitting and thinking of my favorite things,
like cupcakes and flowers and angels wings.
The innocent sweetness of loves first kiss,
and penning my thoughts to a page like this.

Fluffy little bear

lies beside her as she dreams

of dancing rainbows

Rainbow colored tulle

my little ballerina

dances in the clouds

Tanka Poetry – Night

Daily Post – Tanka Poetry

Tanka Poem in three verses . . .

In the dark of night
moonbeams pierce the veil of black
lighting paths for dreams
slowly falling from the stars
finding their way to your heart

Restless spirits still
embraced in slumbers respite
quiet calm comforts
with softly sung lullabies
carried gently in the wind

Angels tiptoe in
to caress your weary brow
soundly may you sleep
they keep vigil through the night
till the morn comes and you rise

Tanka Poetry – Broken

Daily Post – Tanka Poetry

Broken, still she stands
open wounds, never to heal
fragments of lost dreams
pieces of past promises
keep her from falling apart

Rage & Flammable Haiku Challenge – two more

ronovanwrites weekly haiku challenge

~  R a g e  &   F l a m m a b l e  ~

Two more . . . they keep floating around my head.

Rage consumes like fire
flammable, burning red hot
till nothing remains

Anger, jealousy –
ignite flammable weakness,
fuel the fires of rage

Listening With Your Heart – Autism Sings

Listening with your heart - Crystal R. Cook

He walks to the beat
of his own little drum,
the rhythm sometimes
gathers a crowd.
Some people sing along,
others simply
walk away.
There are those
who scoff,
they can’t hear
the sweet music.
Sad souls
listening
without
hearing.

My heart . . . it dances.

Haiku Challenge – ronovanwrites ~ Rage & Flammable

http://ronovanwrites.wordpress.com Weekly Haiku Challenge – Rage & Flammable

I couldn’t quite decide how I wanted to use the words so I used them in several little Haikus, I will likely come back to them, pick them apart and see what comes of them.

Flammable follies
love, desire, passion, rage
smolder, smoke, ignite

~

Growing flames of rage
sear the heart of the angered
flammable soul burns

~

Rage, burning hot fire
the paper soul, flammable
nothing remains, ash

~

Flammable rage burns
destruction left in its wake
scattered ashes fall

~

Embers of rage flame
flammable forgiveness burns
only ash remains

~

Rage, flammable, hot
burning beast, consuming fire
leaving only ash
